Privacy notice

Template wording — add your controller details and register with the ICO before launch.

What we collect

Your name, email, optional postcode and phone number, your bookings, favourites, follows and reviews.

Why

To run your account and bookings (contract), to share your booking details with the organiser of the event you booked (contract), to keep the platform secure (legitimate interests), and to send event news only if you opted in (consent).

Who sees it

Organisers see the name and email of people who book their events. We use our web host and email provider to run the service. Card payments are handled by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number. Postcode searches are looked up via postcodes.io and maps are provided by OpenStreetMap.

How long

We keep account data while your account is open and booking records for up to 6 years for accounting purposes.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time: log in, go to My account → Settings → Delete account. This removes your personal details, favourites, follows and notifications; organisers keep an anonymised record of past bookings for their accounts.

If you joined or connected with Facebook, you can also remove StompSpot in Facebook under Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites. That stops us receiving anything further from Facebook. To have posts already imported from your Page removed too, delete them from Organiser hub → Posts & social, or email us via the Contact page and we'll delete your data within 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw marketing consent at any time from your account settings. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Posts and comments

Posts, comments, reviews and dances you add are public. Your name is shown with them. You can delete your own posts and comments at any time.

Imported social media

If an organiser connects their Facebook Page, Instagram or YouTube, we copy their public posts (text and images) onto StompSpot and keep an access token to check for new ones. Disconnecting stops this.

Organisers we list from public information

To help dancers find classes, we may list an instructor's or club's name, classes, venues and the contact details they publish themselves (on their own website, Facebook Page or posters), before they've joined StompSpot. We do this in our legitimate interests and theirs: helping their classes be found. These listings are marked as not yet confirmed. If it's you, you can claim the listing for free from its page and manage it yourself, or ask us to correct it or take it down, and we will.

Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you logged in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Videos and posts from Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube only load once you choose Allow videos (we ask once, and remember your choice on your device). Those services may then set their own cookies. To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser, or use the ⚙ button on StompSpot Shuffles. Videos uploaded directly to StompSpot don't need this and play straight away.
